Here at Cedarwood Road we do things differently. Our mission is to provide natural, effective skincare solutions for the whole family. So, every bar of our hand-made soap and every tub of luxurious body butter is crafted with all-natural ingredients…and a whole lot of love.
Our story
Cedarwood Road was founded out of necessity and desperation. My children struggled with eczema and dry skin. And no amount of steroid creams and soap-free washes prescribed by our doctor could clear it up. Sure, their skin would improve for a week or two, but then the dryness and irritation would be back worse than ever. Our doctor did their best, but there seemed to be nothing more that traditional medicine could offer.

Natural skin care, eczema relief
I knew there had to be a better way but had no idea what that might be. Things came to a head when I took my eldest daughter to have yet another a blood test. Her eczema was so bad that the nurse took one look at her inner elbows and said they couldn’t possibly get a needle into that thickly scarred skin.
I was so frustrated – we’d done everything traditional medicine had told us to do, and still my daughter was suffering. But, being a determined person, I wasn’t going to let this go.
We’d always loved camping and being outdoors, and our children’s skin always improved after our family camping trips, so it made sense to me to try natural remedies that would soothe, heal and nourish their skin.
I did some research, bought some natural ingredients and made my eldest a body butter to use…then life got in the way and I completely forgot about it.

Two weeks later, my daughter came up to me and held out her arms. ‘Look at my arm!’ she said. Her eczema had completely disappeared.
I immediately made another batch, and then some soap. Knowing how frustrating this had been for our family, I was sure there would be other parents in the same situation. So, I started making more soaps and body butters and giving them to family and friends.
Pretty soon, I couldn’t keep up with the requests for my products, so I resigned from my job...and Cedarwood Road was born.

Why Cedar Trees?

That’s why our logo depicts a small stand of five cedarwood trees – trees used traditionally in the northern hemisphere for Christmas. The trees stand tall in unison, symbolizing our love for the season, the natural world and our family of five.
And our eldest daughter? She continues to have smooth, clear, eczema-free skin to this day.
